Winter is the traditional time to enjoy a hot glass of mulled red wine but this recipe combines red wine it with smooth hot chocolate for a far more luxurious twist. Give it a try and don’t worry about drinking it in winter, drink it all year round if you want.
The recipe was taken and adapted from Wholefully. The original recipe makes 4 servings so I’ve made some changes and simplified the recipe. This recipe is ideal if you have any leftover red wine. Personally, I’ve never had any leftover red wine but everyone is different.
Ingredients:
- 30g milk chocolate buttons
- 60ml milk
- 60ml single cream
- sugar to taste
- splash of vanilla extract
- Dry red wine to fill
Method:
- Put the chocolate, milk, single cream and vanilla extract into a milk frother and then top the liquid level up to the max with the wine.
- Replace the lid and press start. You may need to hold on to your milk frother until the chocolate has melted since it can cause it to shake.
- Wait until your milk frother has finished and pour straight into your preheated glass.
- Add sugar to taste
- Decorate your glass with a cinnamon stick or lashings of squirty cream and mini marshmallows for some added luxury – you know you’re worth it.
- Enjoy your Red Wine Hot Chocolate
Lucy’s Top Tip:– If you are feeling adventurous try using different wines. This recipe called for dry red wine but the sweeter the wine the less sugar you need to add at the end.
