Moscow Mule

Moscow Mule

The Moscow Mule is a very well known and popular cocktail (in the cocktail world).

There are only three ingredients, vodka, lime juice and ginger beer. Whilst travelling in Europe we found it very difficult to find ginger beer even though ginger was readily available. Please note that ginger ale is not a good substitute in this recipe.

One of my most vivid childhood memories is of visiting my grandfather and looking at all the lined up bottles of homemade ginger beer. I was absolutely forbidden from touching any bottle, no-one could tell exactly which bottle could explode next, but he would always put on some protective gear so he could pour me a glass of his very fizzy, fiery and delicious ginger beer.

Ingredients:

  • 50ml Vodka
  • 15ml Lime Juice
  • Ginger beer to top up

Method:

  1. Put all of the ingredients into your Milk Frother and then top up with ginger beer to the max mark.
  2. Replace the lid and then press the start button and wait until finished. Keep an eye on everything, sometimes the ginger beer can froth up.
  3. Meanwhile, heat up your glass using hot water from a kettle.
  4. When your milk frother has finished, empty the water out of the glass and fill with your Hot Cocktail.
  5. Enjoy your Moscow mule.

Mark’s Top Tip: If you are finding it difficult to locate real ginger beer where you live, or are looking for a challenge, there are plenty of videos on how to start making it at home. I particularly liked this recipe for ginger beer on Youtube, which was made after having to survive 7 days of lockdown and needing something to ease the boredom. Little did she know how long lockdown would go on for!
