A cosmopolitan, or informally a cosmo, is a cocktail made with vodka, triple sec, cranberry juice, and freshly squeezed or sweetened lime juice. A Hot Cosmopolitan is our take on a classic recipe.
I had a carton of Cranberry Juice lurking in the fridge so, after a careful bit of Googling, I found the absolute classic cocktail, Cosmopolitan. Most recipes are similar and it looks and tastes fantastic, here is my take on a Hot Cosmopolitan, taking into account the ingredients I had to hand.
As the main ingredient vodka is usually specified, with or without lemon and since we don’t have any Citron Vodka the recommendation is to add some lemon juice. I had to use normal vodka and then to increase the volume I used lemonade (thinking out of the box here and killing two birds with one stone). There was just enough lemonade for my taste, alternatively, try adding a splash or two of lemon juice.
It got Lucy’s seal of approval, she took all of 60 seconds to finish it off.
Ingredients:
- 25ml vodka
- 50ml cranberry juice
- 25ml Cointreau
- 1 tsp maple syrup
- Lemonade to top up
Method:
- Put everything in your milk frother and then top the liquid level up to the max with lemonade.
- Replace the lid and press start.
- Wait until your milk frother has finished and pour straight into your preheated glass.
- Decorate with a slice of lime.
- Enjoy your Hot Cosmopolitan.
Mark’s Top Tip:– I was a bit worried that the cranberry would be rather sharp which is why I added the maple syrup. If anything, it turned out slightly sweet, even though I used Tesco own brand Cranberry Juice which is advertised as ‘Crisp & Tart’. For my next version, I’ll just add in white granulated sugar, it didn’t need the additional flavourings bought in by the maple syrup.
