Just imagine, the taste of a Hot Cherry Bakewell tart, in a glass, puts a whole new look on Afternoon Tea. As we all know, Mr Kipling bakes exceedingly good cakes but he wasn’t thinking about a Hot Cocktail. Here we have taken the very essence of one of his cakes and transformed it into a treat to experience after any meal.
Don’t let the ingredients list put you off trying to make this Hot Cocktail, there are some tips down below to make this recipe much easier to make. Whilst the Licor 43 is optional, instead of leaving it out you would be best advised to substitute it with a fairly neutral spirit such as gin or vodka.
Ingredients:
- 25ml Cherry Syrup
- 25ml Amaretto
- 25ml Licor 43 (optional)
- Apple Juice to fill
- Glace cherries, rinsed, to serve
Method:
- Put all of the ingredients into your Milk Frother and then top up with the apple juice to the max mark.
- Press the start button and wait until finished.
- Meanwhile, heat up your glass using hot water from a kettle.
- When your milk frother has finished, empty the water out of the glass and fill with your Hot Cocktail.
- Garnish with a cherry and enjoy your Hot Cherry Bakewell.
Lucy’s Top Tip: If you want the full Cherry Bakewell look, why not slowly pour some double cream on top and then add your cherry. Instead of using the cherry syrup you could always make your own Cherry Brandy (or Cherry Whisky, Rum, Vodka, Gin…) and don’t forget to use the spirit infused cherry from your liqueur as decoration, visit our page on making your own Homemade Liqueurs.
Licor 43 is one of my favourite top ten drinks, read what Mark wrote about it in 2015 when we were near Cartagena, the birthplace of Licor 43.
