Did you go blackberry picking as a kid? Well, try this Blackberry Lemon Smash and you’ll realise that the pastime is not just for the kids or the crumble!
We’ve based this Hot Cocktail on a recipe from Yay! for Food which is full of recipes using seasonal ingredients and fresh flavours.
Ingredients:
- 50ml White Rum
- 25ml Blackberry Syrup
- Lemonade to fill
- Lemon slice to garnish
Method:
- Put everything into your Milk Frother and then top up with lemonade to the max mark.
- Replace the lid and then press the start button and wait until finished.
- Meanwhile, heat up your glass using hot water from a kettle.
- When your milk frother has finished, empty the water out of the glass and fill with your Hot Cocktail.
- Enjoy your Blackberry Smash.
Mark’s Top Tip: Instead of the blackberry syrup, get yourself out to the nearest blackberry bush and pick some fresh fruit, making sure to get nice ripe ones that are not mushy. It’s a bit more of an effort but just crush the blackberries and strain off the juice (you really don’t want any of the pips in the drink!). Play around with the sweetness levels, there should be enough sweetness from the lemonade and blackberry syrup but everyone is different.
