We can’t be drinking spirits all night long… think of the little children! We’ve been experimenting with Hot Chocolate Recipes and our two top taste testers have been testing, evaluating, marking and adjusting our ideas so here are Emma and Darcy’s Top Ten Hot Chocolate recipes.
Naturally, we’re going super simple here.
Ingredients:
1tsp of one of the following (2tsp needed for the white chocolate spread)
- Cadbury Caramel Spread
- Cadbury Crunchie Spread
- Nutella Chocolate Spread
- White Chocolate Spread
- Peanut Butter
- M&M’S Spread
- Biscoff Spread
- Marmalade
- Smooth Jam
- Maltesers Spread
- Marmite
Method:
- Put the spread of choice into your milk frother and then top the liquid level up to the max with milk.
- Replace the lid and press start.
- Be careful, sometimes the spread will upset the balance of your milk frother and try to take it off into another dimension. Just keep hold of your frother until it has had time to settle down and the solids have melted.
- Wait until your milk frother has finished and pour straight into your heated glass.
- Sprinkle a little chocolate powder over the top to decorate.
Emma’s Top Tips:- The Maltesers and Crunchie spreads have crunchy pieces in them which melt when heated, however, the M&M’s Crunchy bits go soft, a bit like soggy cornflakes – still very tasty though. Our marmalade had long strands of orange peel in it and needed an extra boost of sugar. We did try crunchy peanut butter but the bits didn’t float, they sank to the bottom but did provide a tasty snack at the end of the drink, smooth peanut butter was very good. No one was brave enough to try the Marmite, it’s wrong on so many levels. Don’t forget to go silly with loads of squirty cream all over the top of your hot chocolate and sprinkles, don’t forget the sprinkles.
Mark’s Top Tips:- Wait till the children have gone to bed and get the alcohol out. 50ml of rum, vodka, Baileys, amaretto, whisky or brandy would all work very well with these spreads. Try gin with the marmalade, vodka with the Nutella, whisky with the crunchie spread…
