Whisky Based Recipes
Whisky or whiskey is a type of distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain mash. Various grains (which may be malted) are used for different varieties, including barley, corn, rye, and wheat. Whisky is typically aged in wooden casks, generally made of charred white oak. Whisky is a strictly regulated spirit worldwide with many classes and types.
Note: Whisky varies in price and quality enormously and there really is no point using any of the premium whisky to make one of our Hot Cocktail recipes. Most whisky connoisseur will, quite rightly, turn up their noses at the thought of adding anything to a seriously aged fine whisky. All of the unique whisky characteristics will be swamped by the addition of any other flavourings. Try an expensive whisky if you want but then compare it to something much less pricey – you can thank me later, as can your pocket.
